Escape from danger
Although most birds protect their nestlings by bluff or
aggression when threatened, some parents can pick up
their young and carry them away. Depending on the species,
they may use either their beak, legs, or talons to do this.
Airlift
When startled, the
woodcock will sometimes
carry a chick between its legs
to move it away from danger.
